Goblin Valley State Park Guide
Explore a Martian Landscape: Goblin Valley State Park Guide
Welcome to Goblin Valley State Park, a surreal and otherworldly landscape in Utah that will transport you to another planet. Imagine thousands of bizarre, mushroom-shaped rock formations, called "goblins," scattered across a vast valley. This unique park offers a playground for exploration and adventure, far from the crowds of more popular national parks. Prepare to be amazed by the strange beauty and captivating silence of this hidden gem. The geological history of Goblin Valley dates back millions of years. The goblins are the result of differential erosion, where softer layers of sandstone were worn away by wind and water, leaving behind the more resistant formations. The area was once part of an ancient sea, and the layers of sediment deposited over time eventually formed the sandstone we see today. While not a site of significant human history, the park's unique geology has always fascinated visitors. Goblin Valley is perfect for hiking and exploring. Wander among the goblins, climb on the rocks (where permitted), and discover hidden canyons. The park also offers camping, stargazing (the dark skies are incredible!), and canyoneering opportunities. For a unique experience, consider hiking the Goblin's Lair, a slot canyon requiring rappelling. The park also has several established hiking trails, ranging in difficulty, that offer stunning views of the valley.
